The human body is weird — very, very weird.

We’re exploring those quirks in a new STAT video series, Boddities. We’ll chase down answers to all your questions, curious or common: How, exactly, are taste and smell connected? Why does it hurt so much to get water up your nose? Why doesn’t your stomach eat itself when it’s done digesting your food?

For the first episode, we take aim at the conventional wisdom that drinking soda can settle an upset stomach. There’s something about a lemon-lime soda that harkens back to spending the day home from school, stocked up on saltine crackers with your feet propped up on the couch watching “The Price is Right.”

But is that actually the best thing to drink when you’re queasy? Take two minutes and find out.
