It’s J.P. Morgan time — so all biopharma eyes will be attuned to the dallyings and dealings taking place this week in the hallowed halls of San Francisco’s Westin St. Francis. Of course, there are plenty of ancillary events going on (like the Biotech Showcase — which has become nearly as popular), so here’s what we’re watching out for in the worlds of pharma and biotech:
The J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference
Well, yeah. Plenty of illuminating sessions to come during the premier biopharma event of the year. Standout sessions on Monday include Illumina, Biogen, and NantHealth. On Tuesday? We’re particularly curious about what Sarepta, Axovant, Juno Therapeutics, and especially Valeant Pharmaceuticals have to say for themselves. The past year’s been rife with news — and some controversy — from these companies.
Wednesday, we’re watching out for IBM Watson Health, Bluebird bio, Kite Pharma and Editas — and finally, on Thursday, more drama: Former Martin Shkreli outfit Retrophin and the beleaguered OvaScience take the stage.
