The same day Donald Trump unleashed a vicious attack on drug makers, the Senate gave the industry some small reassurance that lawmakers aren’t quite as eager as the president-elect for a major overhaul of drug pricing.

Senators took two symbolic votes late Wednesday night, in a strange Capitol Hill tradition known as vote-a-rama, on drug-pricing amendments to the budget resolution that they eventually passed. Both provisions failed.
