Human genome editing gets analyzed

The National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Medicine will issue its report on Human Genome Editing: Science, Ethics, and Governance on Tuesday. A committee of international experts looked at what human genome editing can do now and what it might one day be able to do in biomedical research and medicine — along with the clinical, ethical, legal, and social implications.  The report also reviews regulation in the US and offers principles to govern genome editing research or applications worldwide. You can watch a webcast of the committee’s public briefing at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
