In the moments after a spinal cord injury, a process of degradation begins throughout the body, swiftly killing motor function and a patient’s quality of life.
Vinod Labhasetwar is using nanotechnology to try to stop that process in its tracks, injecting tiny particles containing antioxidant enzymes into patients to limit the damage from their injuries and, he hopes, preserve critical movement.
