Representatives of countries from around the globe will get down to the task of electing the next leader of the World Health Organization on Tuesday.

Here at STAT, we’re not making any bold prognostications on who will be selected to take over the helm of the global health agency from outgoing Director-General Margaret Chan, who has served two terms and cannot run again. The only prediction we feel relatively safe making is that in the halls of the WHO’s Geneva headquarters, Tuesday may be a very long day.

  • It is sad that the world is in the process of nominating a tyrant as the head of the very respected and human organization, WHO. I am sad that he made it this far and thanks to the many African tyrants who are the sole causes of the sufferings the continent is under. What made me sad is, the onlookers from mighty governments who otherwise advocated democracy and humanity are now tricked in nominating this unfit and tyrant for the coming four years. His two times appointment as Minster of foreign Affairs and Health, doesn’t tell about his ability ad knowledge. He is part of the gorilla fighters who came from the northern part of the country and ruled the country by force for the past 25 years. His aggression can be seen with the FB message exchange back in 2015, threatening a guy for voicing the death of 28 Ethiopian in the Libyan desert.

  • I AM FROM ETHIOPIA , DR TEDROS ADHENOM IS THE BEST PERSON TO BE THE GENERAL DIRECTOR OF WHO, WHAT OTHER ETHIOPIAN DIASPORA SAID IS NOT MATTER OF THE ELECTION . GOOD LUCK DR. TEDROS ADHENOM

  • I am from Ethiopia. The Ethiopian candidate is Kleptocrator and he is with full of fraud, and corruption. Having a knowledge is quit good but not enough if you didn’t use it rightly. just go through different international reports on Ethiopian Health Issue. If you focus on Ethiopian government’s report and its website you will become biased to the issue of actual health status of the country. And, If Dr Tedros Adhanom elected, I don’t doubt that large African People (not African Leaders-almost all of them are kleptocrators) will be at crisis and WHO in general get worse and called as dictators party Organization.

  • A person that leads the WHO should never be someone implicated with fraud, corruption, lies, torture of Ethiopians, Genocide, bribery and most of all stupidly. That someone is Tedros Adhanom . Shame on WHO if they do elect this so called candidate.

  • It is not about potential at all!! It is the interest of the society behind the seen. Those guys don’t give a f***k if you are murderer or not!! what really they need is a puppet!!

  • Dr. Tedros is the best candidate and the man who brought positive impact to his country by fulfilling the goals set by Unaited Nations under the WHO. Inaddition, he is smart and visionary who could implement and play a positive role in changing and preventing the issue that concern most of the developing countries like Africa, Asia and latin America.

  • Dr. Tedros is competent for the position. If local ethnic political conflict is not hurting him. He is capable, intelligent & smart to bring change to who.

  • The link is they don’t care about criminals from Africa holding office that they can use to push their own agenda. The weaker the appointee the better for their interests. Bill Gates pays the bill; he has US policy makers under his thumb. African leaders are corrupt and bribable. If you were waiting for justice you should have organized and fought for it a while back. The powerful never concede unless there is a tide of mass movement to stop their aggression.

  • One question. Why do two ex US president plus Bill Gate endorsed Tedros who belong to the criminal Ethiopian regime. What is the link here?
