he National Science Foundation, one of the primary funders of research on university campuses, is tightening its restrictions on grants after a flurry of recent reports of sexual harassment by scientists the government agency has backed.

Institutions including Boston University and Dartmouth College have recently launched investigations of professors who have received research funding and who have been accused of harassment and sexual misconduct.
