
Companies are pitching artificial intelligence as a secret sauce to do everything from making drug discovery more efficient to predicting which patients will respond to treatments.
But how much of this stuff is real?
To tease out that question, we sat down in STAT’s offices with Vijay Pande, a Silicon Valley venture capitalist at Andreessen Horowitz. That’s the VC firm, you’ll recall, that’s famous for declaring that “Software Is Eating the World.” Pande joined Andreessen Horowitz in 2015 and spends his days evaluating pitches from life sciences companies that are increasingly promising to use AI.
