WASHINGTON — The drug industry has officially taken center stage in an increasingly bitter Senate race in New Jersey between incumbent Bob Menendez and former Celgene CEO Bob Hugin.
Last week, an ad campaign excoriated Hugin for allowing Celgene to raise prices on drugs under his leadership. Now the Republican is striking back with a pharma-focused ad of his own.
In a 30-second television spot set to begin airing this week, Hugin’s campaign casts the candidate as a man of compassion, not the price-gouging executive described by his opponents.

There is nothing-DUPLICATE ABOUT THIS COMMENT. Seems people hate to have to face the facts. Generic Depakote destroyed the seizure control in 1990. On Tuesday I am going to pay the FULL PRICE FOR BRAND NAME DILANTIN-at the Walmart Pharmacy since my husband and I can not risk a-REPEAT GENERIC REFILL OF THE DILANTIN BY RITE AID PHARMACY. The insurance companies have already destroyed my seizure control PERMANENTLY-by insisting that they wanted to save money with two generic drugs-that did not work. Only one Brand Name Drug remains and the neurosurgeon and neurologist both-SPECIFIED THAT THE PRESCRIPTIONS REQUIRE BRAND NAME ONLY-REFILL AS WRITTEN.
Sad to say-the issue that the Senator is dealing with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals -IS NOT ONLY AN ISSUE THAT IS BEING DEALT WITH BY THIS COMPANY. In February, 2018 I changed health insurance companies; although I was paying the price for Brand Name medicine-the drug store gave me the improper amount of Brand Name Anti-Convulsant-Depakote-and then later denied their mistake. Disaster really struck in early July, 2018 as the Generic Dilantin caused convulsions which I had not had since 1966. I awoke to find two-2-Rescue Squad personnel in my bedroom; even my husband was alarmed as I didn’t recognize him at first. It took some convincing-but my husband and I were finally able to persuade the Rescue Squad people to allow me to stay at home for my doctor’s appointment later that day. Brand Name Dilantin is manufactured by Abbott Pharmaceutical. People who are-ALLERGIC TO GENERIC ANTI CONVULSANT DRUGS MUST TAKE BRAND NAME ANTI CONVULSANT DRUGS. Generic Depakote previously and permanently-DESTROYED MY PREVIOUSLY ESTABLISHED SEIZURE CONTROL AND COST ME MY GOVERNMENT JOB AND RETIREMENT.
