If you woke up today from a five-year nap, you might be shocked by the breadth of Amazon’s health care business. The e-commerce giant has hired an A-list team to disrupt pharmacy services, drug development, distribution of medical supplies, and the delivery of care.
The group includes former bigwigs from the Food and Drug Administration, Partners HealthCare in Boston, and a consortium of prestigious academic medical centers. And that’s to say nothing of Haven, the joint venture it formed with Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan Chase to improve care and lower costs for the companies’ employees.
