PHILADELPHIA — Dr. Matthew Budoff probably didn’t want to bury the lede.

On Monday, the UCLA School of Medicine professor was at the annual meeting of the American Heart Association, diving into a news conference on data from an imaging study to investigate the effects of Amarin’s fish oil-derived drug Vascepa on harmful plaque growth in statin-treated patients.
