WASHINGTON — President Trump’s nominee to lead the Food and Drug Administration, faced with a barrage of questions on Wednesday about his views on youth vaping, pledged “bold action” to address the crisis but demurred when asked directly by U.S. senators whether he supported a wholesale ban on flavored e-cigarette products.
The comments by Dr. Stephen Hahn, the chief medical executive of MD Anderson Cancer Center, came during his confirmation hearing before the Senate Health Committee. They also came amid reports that the White House has stalled a decision on whether to ban flavored vape products.
Hahn is just another typical Trump pick. The fluttering of tobacco companies’ 100 dollar bills can be felt from 2000 miles away. Recipient “The Don” is participant in tobacco lobbying & politics …. make him an offer he can’t refuse ……. Nothing has changed, Washington is a never-ending corrupt zoo.
Bold action, he says.
Oh gosh, a ban . . . . . hmmm . . . . . don’t know what Trump wants me to say. Better be safe and if a few thousand more kids die, oh well.
What a strong leader for the most significant agency in the government. LIVES will be in his hands and he waffles on the first tough issue.
GREAT nominee.
No one is dying from nicotine vaping. All the deaths have been linked to illegal thc vapes, sold by drug dealers. Seems you only read headlines. Nicotine vaping products are registered with the FDA. Big tobacco wants a flavor ban as it will kill of the vape shops and give Juul and other tobacco owned companies more market share. Also it will send many back to smoking, it’s a win win for them. There is a reason Juul and all organizations that receive tobacco funding support it.
Adding artificial flavoring to unflavored nicotine is extremely easy. It’s also a lot cheaper to make it at home. They already use artificial flavors in the food industry. Unfortunately people are going to die because of inexperience. It’s going to create a flavored Nicotine black market industry.
