Biopharma companies have long been early adopters of technologies such as cloud infrastructure, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. But the intersection of biopharma and health care remains largely undigitized. Some biopharma companies have recognized this and are now racing to adopt and apply a variety of targeted apps to help digitize this intersection through patient portals, beyond-the-pill solutions, data analytics, and digital therapeutics.
These point solutions can feed critical information and insights back to all stakeholders in the care continuum to improve patient health and enable better and faster drug development. Yet they can also reinforce and multiply data silos; produce a massive influx of data that generates more noise than signal; and add to the workload, burden, and burnout of physicians and lab workers.
