The relative brevity of the Omicron surge helped the bottom line at UnitedHealth Group.
UnitedHealth’s insurance division tallied 40,000 Covid-19 hospitalizations in January, the highest of any month since the start of the pandemic, executives said on an investor call Thursday morning. By March, that number fell to 2,000.
“It was definitely a quarter of two parts, in terms of January and then how February and March moved forward with the shifting impacts of Omicron,” UnitedHealth CEO Andrew Witty said on the call.
