Carbon Health, which runs dozens of brick-and-mortar clinics and a virtual care business, laid off 250 employees on Wednesday, citing concerns about its bottom line.
The company’s chief executive, Eren Bali, said that while the company had quadrupled its “core business” in 2021, significant revenue came from services specific to Covid-19 — offerings that Carbon plans to dial back as the pandemic enters “a new phase,” Bali wrote in a blog post published Thursday. The layoffs account for about 8% of Carbon’s workforce.
