Job Description:
STAT, the leading health and science site, is looking for an assistant social media editor to join its editorial team to help share and promote our news as well as our wide range of products and initiatives. This person will report to our engagement editor and will be responsible for audience cultivation and engagement to increase traffic on all digital platforms. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of news cycles, experience packaging content across multiple platforms, and an ability to manage social media in new and creative ways. Good judgment is a must, as is an ability to seize on attention-grabbing elements of stories to better promote them.
Responsibilities:
- Share news articles and STAT initiatives across multiple platforms
- Lead social strategies on platforms like Instagram and Reddit
- Create social assets to enhance posts
- Report social performance analytics
Qualifications:
- A team player who can excel while working across multiple branches of the business
- A creative thinker when it comes to executing new and exciting ways to promote STAT stories and other content
- A willingness to adapt to the ever-changing needs of a newsroom
- A willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment
- Journalism background preferred

Compensation/Location:
The minimum salary for this position is $55,000. We offer a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, a 401k plan, generous vacation, and more. We also provide Care.com back-up care and have numerous wellness offerings, including free access to HeadSpace for all full time employees.
While we’d prefer you to be based in Boston, we also are considering remote candidates who would be willing to spend time at HQ once Covid recedes. This position will start as a remote position, but, following the office’s 2022 reopening plan, will be located in the Boston headquarters.
The STAT office is located in downtown Boston, steps away from Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, and is easily accessible by MBTA and commuter rail lines. We have colleagues in the organization that come into the office on a regular basis and colleagues that are based in various cities throughout the U.S. For this role, we will consider candidates who are based anywhere in the United States.
