In the latest phase of a wide-ranging reorganization, Sanofi is eliminating hundreds of sales and marketing jobs in the US as its struggles to revamp its all-important diabetes franchise and grow other businesses.
In a town hall meeting held this morning with employees, Sanofi executives disclosed plans to eliminate 20 percent of the sales reps who focus on diabetes and cardiovascular drugs, along with an unspecified number of jobs that are in related marketing departments, such as market access, a term used to describe employees who deal with managed care organizations.
