Last-ditch talks are underway between Ireland’s Health Service Executive and Vertex Pharmaceuticals over the price of the Orkambi cystic fibrosis treatment, the Irish Times reports. The move follows pressure by patients, but health officials are not optimistic about reaching an agreement about an acceptable cost. Minister for Health Simon Harris declared he would not be “bullied or extorted” by a drug company seeking an excessive payment.
