
Just 9 percent of Americans believe drug makers place more value on patients than profits, and only insurers have an overall worse reputation among consumers than the pharmaceutical industry among different entities in the health care system, according to a new Harris Poll.
Moreover, about half of Americans believe health care providers and hospitals make a positive difference in the country, while 39 percent feel that way about retail pharmacists. Only 26 percent of those surveyed share this notion about health insurers and drug makers. And when it comes to socially responsible behavior, drug makers rank dead last.
