The Organization of Pharmaceutical Producers of India is lobbying to replace multiple state-based drug authorities with a single agency in order to more effectively protect intellectual property and patents, the Economic Times reports. The trade group, which represents more than two dozen drug makers, mostly global companies, also wants specialized patent courts in order to more quickly resolve patent disputes.
