
A Greek government probe into alleged bribes paid by Novartis to government officials took an unexpected twist late last week when the corruption prosecutor reportedly resigned and claimed she was being targeted due to her investigation into the drug maker.
In a letter to the Supreme Court chief prosecutor, Eleni Raikou claimed she was the victim of a campaign by “unofficial power centers” after a negative newspaper article was published about her, and that she was not given “institutional protection,” according to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.
