An experimental rheumatoid arthritis drug from Johnson & Johnson was linked to more deaths than a placebo, Food and Drug Administration staff reviewers wrote in an advance of a Wednesday expert panel meeting, Reuters writes. Other possible safety issues were similar to other drugs in the class, but the trend of increased overall mortality “seems unique” for this medicine, they wrote. The most common causes of death were major heart problems, infection, and malignancies.
