Anthem (ANTM), which is one of the nation’s largest health insurers, will create a new pharmacy benefit manager called IngenioRx in 2020, which is when its contract with Express Scripts (ESRX), the biggest PBM, will expire. Anthem has been feuding with Express Scripts for allegedly failing to pass along rebates negotiated with drug makers. Anthem has signed a five-year agreement with CVS Health (CVS), which also runs the drugstore chain and a PBM, to help manage the new business.
