We are taking in another installment in our “Let’s-see-them-before-they-die” concert series and plan to take the short person in search of the Great Pumpkin. We will, of course, also take some naps. But what about you? Those of you with yards could get some exercise by raking leaves or, if you prefer, ignore the mess and take a drive to watch the leaves fall elsewhere. The Ontario government is investigating allegations that Teva Pharmaceuticals (TEVA) offered pharmacies “illegal” payments to stock its opioid medications fentanyl and oxycodone, The Toronto Star reports. The newspaper obtained emails showing a Teva corporate accounts manager offering to pay an Ontario pharmacy group a rate of 15 percent of the drug price if it stocked the prescription opioids.

Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer has launched an investigation into Avanir Pharmaceuticals (AVNR) for aggressively targeting nursing home residents with a drug called Nuedexta that may be unnecessary or unsafe for this population, CNN reports. The network recently disclosed inappropriate and potentially fraudulent use of the medication, in some cases by doctors who have received tens of thousands of dollars to help promote the drug.
