President Trump met with Pfizer (PFE) chief executive Ian Read at the White House on Thursday as the administration pressures drug makers to voluntarily rein in prices, according to Politico. Separately, four officials from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services — including Deputy Secretary Eric Hargan and Dan Best, the agency’s point person on drug pricing — met with pharmaceutical executives to reinforce the administration message to lower prices and press for more action. Sanofi (SNY), Roche (RHHBY) and Merck KGaA also reportedly agreed not to raise prices this year, CNBC says.
