AmerisourceBergen (ABC), which is one of the nation’s largest pharmaceutical wholesalers, has conceded that its compounding business needs to be fixed, so the company has hired manufacturing experts to review procedures at a key facility in Memphis and postponed plans to resume shipments.
The move was made in a response to a request by the Food and Drug Administration, and comes less than two months after the wholesaler declared that limited production and distribution were about to resume at the troubled facility, which is run by its Pharmedium Services compounding unit.
