Two Democratic lawmakers asked the Department of Health and Human Services to provide documents concerning government patents held on the Truvada HIV prevention pill sold by Gilead Sciences (GILD), as well as documents relating to an agreement reached with the drug maker to donate its medicine. The request was just after the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform held a hearing to explore the role the government played in discovering Truvada and the high cost of the medicine.
