Canada is considering significant changes to how it will apply new regulations aimed at lowering costs, as unhappy drug makers delay product launches and blame it for job cuts, Reuters reports. In August, the government passed new regulations for patented drugs despite lobbying from drug makers. The rules base Canadian prices on those from a group of countries with lower prices than a benchmark group now used to set ceilings, and give regulators the power to review new medicines based on cost-effectiveness.
