President Trump plans to name Moncef Slaoui, a former GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) vaccines head, and Gustave Perna, a four-star U.S. general, to lead a Manhattan Project-style effort to develop a Covid-19 vaccineBloomberg News reports. The program will pull together drug makers, government agencies, and the military, with the goal of cutting development time for a vaccine by up to eight months and producing 300 million doses by the end of the year. Slaoui is on the board of Moderna (MRNA), one of the leading U.S. companies developing a vaccine, but will leave that as well as other boards.
