Good morning, everyone, and nice to see you again. We have returned from a week-long respite, during which we deposited our shortest person for the first time at an institution of higher learning and otherwise lazed about. Now, though, the time has come to resume the usual daily routines. So the coffee kettle is fired up for a few cups of stimulation. Given the need to jolt our neurons, our choice today is Jack Daniel’s. Yes, this is a real brand. And as always, here are a few tidbits. Hope all goes well today, and do keep in touch. We appreciate the tips and suggestions. …
Contaminants were found in Moderna (MRNA) Covid-19 vaccines at a large-scale vaccination center in Japan’s Okinawa prefecture, prompting a suspension of inoculations, Reuters writes. The vaccines are from different Moderna lots than ones already suspended by the Japanese government due to reports of contamination. Takeda Pharmaceutical (TAK), the domestic distributor for the vaccines, is expected to investigate the possibility of contamination during production and hold talks with Japan’s health ministry. Two people reportedly died after receiving the shots.
Pfizer (PFE) is hiring a new sales force to promote its Covid-19 vaccine as it gears up to compete with rival drug makers to offer annual booster shots in the U.S., The Financial Times reports. The company began advertising several positions on LinkedIn last week, including a senior director to lead its U.S. launch and a senior manager for U.S. Covid consumer marketing. The fresh job ads highlight how Pfizer is preparing for the next phase of the pandemic, which will involve marketing its annual booster shots in order to compete with other drug makers.
