Four pharmaceutical companies had generic extended-release Adderall on backorder in August, according to Bloomberg. The disruption comes at a time of high demand for the drug, which is used to treat attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. One of the affected companies, Teva Pharmaceuticals, blamed the issue on labor shortages on the packaging line. Other companies seeing shortages include Amneal Pharmaceuticals, Novartis AG’s Sandoz unit, and Rhodes Pharmaceuticals, a Purdue Pharma subsidiary.
