Lauren Joseph was a summer intern for STAT and second-year medical student at Stanford University. She writes for Scope, the official blog of Stanford Medicine. She completed her bachelor's degree in human biology with a focus on behavior and bioethics. Before starting medical school, Lauren worked as a lead clinical research coordinator in the Division of Cardiology at the University of California, San Francisco. In her free time, she likes to read comics, listen to Motown, and run any distance shorter than a marathon.
