Shafaq Zia was a reporting intern at STAT. She is currently pursuing a journalism degree at Northwestern University. Prior to joining STAT, she worked as an intern in the corporate communication department of Qatar’s national health care service and as managing editor for her school’s student-run news publication, The DailyQ. She harbors a deep fascination of science and takes special interest in covering the latest research on autism spectrum disorder. She also loves asking questions, cleaning every surface she can get her hands on, and hates ketchup fiercely.
