James Hildreth

President and CEO, Meharry Medical College

In February 2021, President Biden named Hildreth as one of 12 members of the new Covid-19 Health Equity Task Force, charged with developing recommendations for mitigating inequities that have caused communities of color to suffer disproportionately from the pandemic. He’s also an adviser on the FDA advisory panel that in October recommended the vaccine for children ages 5 to 11. A former Rhodes scholar and Johns Hopkins University professor, Hildreth has been president of Meharry, one of the oldest and largest historically Black academic health science centers, since 2015.
