The first female president of Morehouse School of Medicine, Montgomery Rice has worked for years to illuminate the disproportionate rate of maternal mortality among women of color — and promote racial equity in health care more broadly. Last year, that included launching a podcast featuring conversations about these topics between herself and medical leaders, including CDC Director Rochelle Walensky. In 2022, she was also named to the President’s Committee on the National Medal of Science, which evaluates nominees for the prestigious award.
