STAT, a leading health and science media company, is looking for a Data Project Manager to develop data products for paying STAT subscribers. This person would have a budget to hire freelancers, seek out partnerships, and tap into our editorial team. While the principal mission of this person is to find ways to incorporate data to enhance the experience of our STAT+ subscribers, part of that role would be to enrich data-driven stories and editorial projects. This person would execute these efforts at STAT by commissioning freelancers and seeking out partnerships.
We are looking, essentially, for an internal entrepreneur.
- This person would work with the editorial, product, and business teams to be a champion of data journalism at STAT, and work creatively to identify and develop data products that would enhance STAT+, our subscription service.
- This person would have sharp journalistic skills and an understanding of the terrain of data tools.
- A knowledge of or interest in health, medicine, and science and understanding of our market and audience is not essential but would be a plus. It would also be of benefit to have an understanding of the competitive market for data in the health and science sectors.
- Has a willingness to adapt, be audience focused with a curious mindset, and committed to creating an inclusive work environment
Note: STAT prides itself on its culture so collaborative spirit, flexibility, and willingness to innovate are essential. STAT is affiliated with Boston Globe Media but operates independently from The Boston Globe.
